Freedom of the mind

3 April, 2014

It has often been said plaintively, that children spend too much time watching television regarding it as an element that jeopardizes or at least makes more difficult the work of educators. Surveys confirm that assertion, but it would be unfair to say that children are the culprits of this situation. In any case, they are victims of living environment, in which the television set occupies a special place not only in the family room, but, once it is on, it attracks the attention of the entire family. In this way the private sphere of the family, is invaded within the four walls of the house by a gang of “time suckers” aggressors who have not received a specific invitation to sit at our table. Intruders or guests?

3 April, 2014

Repeat that children spend too much time watching television sometimes plaintively, sometimes as an element that distorts the work of educators. Surveys confirm that dedication, but it would be unfair to say that children are the ulprits. In any case, infants are victims of living environment, in which the television set occupies a special place not only in the family room, but, on, focuses the attention of the entire family. The private sphere of the family, the individual, is invaded, within the four walls of the house by a gang of suspected attackers, “time suckers” who have not received a specific invitation to sit at our table. Promoting freedom

3 April, 2014

A common goal of educators is that children grow up in freedom and in responsibility. For this, we must promote and encourage that they make their own decisions and choose among various options. Alongside this we will help them to distinguish what is good for others and for themselves. Promoting freedom is always encouraging them to make choices for love. Read the rest of this entry »

Educating the freedom

3 April, 2014

The mission of the educator, both father and teacher is double: make that the boy is aware of the great value of his freedom and teaches him to put it into practice correctly. This is easy to say and hard to do it, among other things because the concept of freedom and its relationship with the good and love does not understand correctly. Read the rest of this entry »

What is happiness?

3 April, 2014

The question is not new; this comes from a long time ago and is crucial for each person. We could summarize it in this question: How do we harmonize be happy (a happy life) and do good (the good) and correct? The difficulty is that these words and expressions have lost, or better said, have been given other meanings. Happiness coincides with pleasure and what is useful. Frequently, our sight and intelligence are incapable to deepen because we are blinded by the individual, the sensitivity and the moment. Read the rest of this entry »

Together to survive

3 April, 2014

Many people concerned about the crisis (financial, economic, political and ethical) think that their children will live in worse living conditions than they have lived until now. In a short time, we have passed from a generation where a fifty years person can choice for pre retirement to another where it is possible that when they come to the fifty might not have found a decent employment, unless they have emigrated. Not only the macroeconomic scares, but even the closest figures do: there are approximately six million unemployed people, a total of nine and a half million of pensions and only 17 million people that pay to the Social Security. We should not forget to mention the fall of the property estate: your home and my home. The forecast for the immediate future are negative, and then we will have to go back. The choice of school

3 April, 2014

One of the most important decisions that parents make is the choice of school for their children. In many occasions they do it for very simple reasons: the proximity of the school to the home or workplace, if it has sport facilities or dining room, the age of teachers and the absence of bad news or complaints from other parents. They would also have to consider what kind of education they prefer for their children. Read the rest of this entry »

Positive judge

3 April, 2014

All parents and teachers want the good education of children. How to get it?

Adults tend to exaggerate the incorrect behavior of children. This makes them think that their faults are very dug in that it is not worth fighting to overcome them. Read the rest of this entry »

Lend a hand or protest

3 April, 2014

There was a country where the cows were fat and beautiful but a rancher with much temper began to milk them in a normal way, then beyond the normal way until exhaustion. He did so for seven years and, obviously, the cows were too skinny. Read the rest of this entry »

The end moves people

3 April, 2014

“The end moves the agent” is a classic expression that I used to translate by: “the end moves the people.” It is important to have a clear purpose both in mind and in heart (it will define in the course of live) because if we do not have it then the immobility and the senseless appear. “If we are not going anywhere” then why we are moving; it would be worth nothing. Obelix and Co

3 April, 2014

I was 17 years old when I read it for the first time. Then, I have re-read it many times and every time that I do so it not only makes me laugh a lot (unplayable Obelix with tacky bows and cape) but also amazes me the darker side of what I believe is the best book for understanding capitalism. Likewise, I am also amazed at the causes that have led us to this economic crisis. As you might have guessed already and if you have not yet read it I am talking about an adventure of Asterix (the Gaul). It is about: Read the rest of this entry »

Small Achievements

3 April, 2014

Affection manifests through emotions, passions, motivations, and most of all, through feelings. These latter are defined as a subjective, positive or negative state that is experienced after receiving the impacts that life brings, in other words, after living what happens to each one of us through time. Will power is the capacity of striving and making the effort to reach a previously proposed and anticipated objective. It is up to the individual to construct a life project and be willing to make it a reality even if it takes efforts and sacrifices. Read the rest of this entry »

Education according to Socrates

3 April, 2014

Previously, we discussed what the concept of education was for Roman philosopher Seneca was; education for him was fundamentally having an honest life. This time around, let us discuss the concept of a “good life” according to Greek philosopher Socrates, whose thoughts were well known four centuries before Seneca’s. Read the rest of this entry »

What is strenght?

3 April, 2014

Adolescence is a nice stage of life where the teenager begins to comprehend the deficiencies of the world and thus cultivates wishes to change it, improve it, and resolve its problems. However, this is not as easy as it sounds, since there are external factors (all is organized, all is already discovered), and internal factors (not knowing what he or she really wants, and not having the resources for it) that make it more difficult to do so. When a teenager has a goal or project to realize, he or she needs strength and effort in order to achieve it. Read the rest of this entry »

Achieving to become a person

3 April, 2014

When thinking about education we realize that its main protagonist is the learner, which comes to show the importance about “self education”. However, it is also a reality that depends on the stimuli from others, most of all with the help of parents and teachers. Read the rest of this entry »

The reasons behind generosity

3 April, 2014

One of the main purposes of children’s education is to teach them how to be generous, in other words that they learn how to act in favor of another in an unselfish manner. However, this virtue is not so developed in children, so they tend to act for other reasons, for example, to please the person that they admire or to receive something in return. What is teaching?

3 April, 2014

Education revolves around the binomial duo “information-formation”. Information provides us with the necessary knowledge that allows us to move about society and to gain the professional skills necessary for personal development at work. One of the aims of education is to train and educate administrators, chauffeurs, doctors, technicians, chemists, etc. Read the rest of this entry »

Education of social life

3 April, 2014

Philosophers remind us that the human person is a social being by nature. However, this is not enough: humans must develop a good social conduct throughout their lives. Humans are born with natural antisocial tendencies, such as aggressiveness, envy, egoism, etc. These tendencies will always be present throughout one’s life. Read the rest of this entry »

Types of generosity within the family

3 April, 2014

Generosity could be defined as doing something in favor of others even if it takes efforts to do so. However, sometimes it is not easy to clearly identify such conduct because it depends on the purity of the intention itself and the effort with which the generous action is carried out. It is not the same when a rich man gives away some of his extra money, than when a poor man gives away his only coin. In order to be generous, it is necessary to be conscious about the fact that what is given or done can actually satisfy a need in others. Read the rest of this entry »
